Our Commitment To Sustainability

At Baggage, sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. As marketers and storytellers in the travel and sustainability space, we aim to inspire positive change by connecting our audience with businesses that prioritize people and the planet. Through our content, collaborations, and personal practices, we strive to create a better, greener future. Here’s how we approach sustainability and the criteria we use to guide our decisions:

ECO: Our Guiding Principles

E: Education

We believe education is the first step towards change. By sharing insights on pressing environmental issues, we empower our audience to understand WHY adopting sustainable practices and supporting eco-conscious businesses is important. Whether it’s reducing waste, embracing slow travel, or understanding the impact of our choices, we aim to share actionable tips that individual people can use to combat the issues we face.

C: Conservation

Protecting natural resources is a core focus of our work. We thoughtfully choose the tours, accommodations, and activities we engage with, ensuring they align with our mission to minimize harm and maximize the preservation of our planet’s beauty and biodiversity.

O: Opportunity

We highlight locally owned businesses and initiatives that create economic opportunities for communities. By encouraging our audience to support these establishments, we help direct tourism dollars toward businesses that prioritize sustainability and community development. Our role is to bridge the gap, making it easier for people to find and support local gems instead of massive corporations.

Our Anti Greenwashing Commitment

As sustainability advocates, we recognize the importance of transparency.

We commit to conducting thorough research before partnering with brands or businesses. This ensures that we understand their environmental and social impacts, as well as their marketing goals.

We promise never to make false claims or promote a company as sustainable or eco-friendly without evidence to back those assertions.

For companies we don’t work with directly, we rely on their public reports and disclosures to share their sustainability initiatives.

We use terms like “sustainable” and “eco-friendly” with purpose, reserving them for businesses that genuinely meet our standards.
