Table of Contents
The Water
Belize has some of the bluest (is that a word?) water we have EVER seen! Plus, the average annual water temperature is 82°F. You won’t get chilly when you go for a swim.
The Resorts
Come on in, welcome to Mahogany Bay Resort! This hotel is one of the nicest and most unique on the island of Ambergris Caye. We captured some of our best photos of Belize during our stay here, because the entire property is picture-perfect.
Mahogany Bay is a Hilton property that includes a stunning Private Beach Club reachable by a short boat ride. This resort also includes a series of shops and restaurants right on the grounds, and a massive main lobby (pictured below).
What’s more, rooms at Mahogany Bay Resort are villa style, so you’ll have a private space to enjoy. This resort is perfect for honeymooners and couples. Families who want more space can book the spacious 3 bedroom townhouse (pictured above).
For ocean views from your room, stay at Coco Beach Resort on Ambergris Caye. This hotel offers 2 resort-style pools; villa-style rooms; and free activities like kayaking and paddle boarding onsite.
During our stay at Coco Beach Resort, we enjoyed morning sunrises from our private oceanfront deck and sunny days by the pool. We also spent evenings tasting the delicious menu at Coco Blanca Restaurant right onsite.
The Underwater World
The Belize Barrier Reef is the second-largest reef system in the world, stretching over 190 miles. The reef provides endless opportunities for snorkeling and scuba diving. These photos of Belize can’t fully showcase the incredible diversity that exists underwater, you’ll have to come see it for yourself.
From majestic spotted eagle rays to graceful sea turtles, you have a chance to see a wide variety of marine life in Belize. Many visitors choose to swim with nurse sharks at Sharks Cove, where stingrays are also common.
If you want to see the marine life that we spotted during our time underwater in Belize, check out our Belize videos on TikTok.
On the island of Ambergris Caye, you’ll hear about the popular Secret Beach (pictured above). Just a heads up, this beach is far from a secret. It’s actually one of the most touristy things to do on the island. There are many restaurants and lounge chairs set up along the beach, and tons of tables right in the water.
The Island Vibe | Caye Caulker
Caye Caulker is much smaller than the island of Ambergris Caye, and it also offers a different vibe. Before you decide which island to stay on in Belize, read our full post on Ambergris Caye vs. Caye Caulker: Where To Stay In Belize.
Caye Caulker embodies the island vibe, offering a laid-back lifestyle and walkable town. Everything here is colorful and quaint. You won’t find large scale resorts or hotel chains here. But you will find fresh seafood, BnBs, and hostels ideal for backpackers.
Although we stayed on Ambergris Caye, we did a day trip to Caye Caulker and captured some of our favorite photos of Belize here.
The Vacation Destination | Ambergris Caye
If you want a true vacation, Ambergris Caye is the place to put your feet up. Pictures pools with swim-up bars, beachfront hammocks, and warm weather every day. The next few photos show off Belizean Shores Resort. This family-friendly hotel feels like a home away from home.
Belizean Shores is budget-friendly and great for groups traveling together, as the rooms are villa-style and some can fit up to 8 guests.
In conclusion, Belize is a beautiful destination if you like clear blue ocean waters, diverse marine life, and a laid-back island vibe. The photos of Belize that we’ve shared in this post are just a glimpse of the incredible beauty that this country has to offer.
