What To Do In Naxos Town

Visit the Portara / Temple of Apollo

If you arrive in Naxos by boat, you’ll see a massive marble doorway situated on a hill. This beautiful structure is the Portara, also known as the Temple of Apollo, and it’s one of Naxos’ most popular landmarks. It’s the single remaining part of an unfinished temple of Apollo from 530 BC.

The suites at Naxos Rhyton offer unmatched views of the temple. You can walk up the steps to the top for a beautiful sunset before you head into town for the night. This is also the perfect spot for a morning walk, if you want to escape the crowds. Staying at Naxos Rhyton, you’ll have the best access to the temple since it’s just steps away from your door.

Walk to Waterfront Restaurants

Part of the fun of staying in the main town of Chora is being able to try the variety of local restaurants in Naxos. We loved Lotto restaurant for a traditional Greek breakfast, and Naxian Capriccio Restaurant for dinner. If you’re enjoying your honeymoon or a couples getaway in Naxos, Chora offers many dining options that are perfect for a date night.

What’s more, we have a variety of dietary needs (gluten-free, dairy-free, and vegetarian) that the Naxos restaurants easily accommodate. Traveling with dietary restrictions can be stressful. But with such a wide variety of restaurants in Naxos Town, it’s not hard to find a delicious meal.
